Degrees
Bachelor of Fine Arts
Communication design includes graphic design and advertising design plus a whole lot more. We like to call it education for both sides of your brain.
Many design programs teach you how to DO graphic design – brochures, logos and web sites. That's ok, but it's just not the whole picture. Today's in-demand careers require you to also be able to THINK STRATEGICALLY about design. In other words, you need to be able to come up with the ideas, understand the audiences, and have the design skills to solve visual problems. Communication design seeks to teach you the “why,” not just the “what” – so you can succeed in our design hungry world.
This Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree Program includes a variety of classes built to help you become a well-rounded design professional.
At Harrington, you can earn your specialized associate degree in digital photography in as few as five concentrated semesters. This digital photography program has been created and is taught by experienced, working professional photographers. They will lead you through an innovative, career-driven syllabus, from the fundamentals of photography to imaging and studio practices. You'll have access to expertise that can help you master film and digital camera mechanics, as well as the support to cultivate your own artistic style. Each course's curriculum is geared to set the stage for this creative profession — everything from artistically challenging content, to contract negotiations, to working under tight deadlines. The goal of our digital photography program is to help you graduate skilled and confident, ready to tackle professional projects.
Harrington students start by purchasing a Nikon D200, Canon30D or Canon Rebel XTi camera kit as well as a light meter, camera bag, compact flash card and tripod. Your investment is echoed by Harrington's commitment to providing industry-current computers, lighting equipment and scanners. You'll have access to labs filled with high-speed dual processor Mac G5s and imaging software that includes Adobe Photoshop, 6,200 square feet of studio space, and a comprehensive suite of complementary equipment, from lenses to strobes, workbooks, videos and more.
Bachelor of Fine Arts, Associate of Applied Science
