Studying Architecture: A Unique Blend of Creativity and Craftsmanship

An architect is a professional who specializes in the creative organization of space. Architects are capable of designing residential homes, commercial buildings, towering skyscrapers, outdoor landscapes, and even marine vessels.

The different fields in architecture are vast, as architects are well trained in almost every sub-category. From the preservation of historical landmarks, to advanced structural engineering, architects are involved wherever there's construction.

In studying architecture, one must complete five years of education and at least two years working with an architecture firm to qualify for the licensure examination.

The coursework generally involves the use of computer-assisted drawing (CAD) programs. Students are taught how to present their designs to companies and take constructive criticism. Although it may sound like a daunting task, having a professional license is just a basic requirement that can make it easier for one to find a job.

After securing a license, an architect has the liberty of choosing to be a part of a group, or work individually with a self-started business. Architects generally do their work in partnership with developers, engineers, and other professionals in order to achieve each client's unique vision.

Since architecture is a combination of subjects such as art, physics, geography, history, and engineering, architects' opinions are highly respected. Both challenging and enjoyable, the role of an architect is nothing short of rewarding.
