Jonathan Puckey (b. 1981) is an independet graphic designer based in Amsterdam. He has taught at the Yale University School of Art, as well as the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Incorporating his interest in programming and human interactions with technology, Puckey’s work focuses not on design products, but rather on design processes. Puckey often collaborates with the Conditional Design group, further experimenting with the ways design, technology, and human interaction combines to create new processes and new ideas.
According to the Conditional Design Manifesto, part of the collaborative effort that includes Puckey, Luna Maurer, Edo Paulus, and Roel Wouters, the process of design can adapt to any media. With technology constantly changing and improving, designers should redefine their approach, creating tools that can adapt to the quickly changing technological landscape.
