Jessica Hische is a graphic designer and custom lettering specialist living and working in San Francisco, California. Hische received her degree in Graphic and Interactive Design from Tyler School of Art. Upon graduation, Hische accepted a Senior Designer position at Louise Fili Ltd. As she developed her graphic design skills, she found her passion for typography and lettering, taking on several freelance design projects in which she incorporated her passion for lettering, creating unique design solutions for such clients as Barnes & Noble Classics, Target, and Nation Public Radio. Hische recently contributed lettering designs for Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, released summer 2012.
In addition to graphic design and custom lettering, Hische is interested in building and rebuilding her personal website, experimenting with web design and also featuring her Daily Drop Cap project. Each day, a new illustrative letter would be featured. Hische has designed a dozen unique illustrative alphabets for the Daily Drop Cap project, attracting more than 100,000 visitors to her website each month during the peak of the project. When asked for advice for any aspiring graphic artists and fellow “letterers,” Hische suggests attending art school is the most important step for any artist, as well as seeking out internships.
