International Academy of Design and Technology

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Game Production program is a comprehensive program emphasizing multiple aspects of game production. Students will have an opportunity to develop knowledge, skills and competence in asset development and integration, game play, team collaboration, written and verbal communication, and business operations. In addition, student swill be engaged in the integration of theory, process, and digital assets that lead to successful production of games.

GAME 245 Level Design

This course will introduce students to the fundamental concepts used to create levels for games. Students will have the opportunity to incorporate level design and architecture theory, level design principles, game balancing, play testing and storytelling. Students will be expected to build and test levels that reflect design concepts.

GAME 355 Modeling III

This course involves modeling and animation of 3D characters and assets for games. Topics include low polygonal 3D modeling, texture mapping, shading and lighting, dynamic movement and timing, and rendering techniques.

GAME 240 Sound Design

Students will have the opportunity to explore, examine, create, and implement audio for interactive projects. Multiple processes in the creation, recording, and distribution of said audio will also be covered in depth. A sound library of all original work will be presented at the end of the course using industry standard compression formats for both client and server side applications.

GAME 390 Game Animation

This course focuses on the creation 3D animated cycles, characters, and props for computer games using animation software. Topics include the development of walk cycles, linking and hierarchies, and forward and inverse kinematics.

This course introduces issues inherent in the process of game design. This course offers an overview for the game design process, from the concept phase to the final delivery phase.
Topics include project management and game design documents.

GD340 Creative Writing and Storyboarding for Games

This course examines how creative writing techniques can be used to develop game interactions for helping to maintain the players interest.
Key elements include: translating rough ideas into a workable script; development of the storyboard based on the principles of storytelling, plot, conflict, action and character development; and camera angles, camera moves and character posing.

GD360 Advanced Animation

This course examines advanced animation techniques such as multiple key frame methods, character setup tools and two-limb animation solver.
A discussion of scripting as it pertains to video game development is also included.
