This is the first piece that I have created for a new series titled "Tree of Life." I gained my inspiration for this piece from a model who posed for a figure drawing group I attend. The model had a tatto on her chest of the tree of life much like what is represented in this first piece. I plan on finishing this series with at least 10 to 15 nighttime scenes and an equal half of daytime scenes, which is represented here in this first work of the series. The Tree of Life can have many meanings to others, but to me I feel as if it is a symbol of mother nature herself and all living things. It can represent the changing of seasons, the change from day to night, death and life, etc. Here I want the tree of life to be the prominent image in the work, for it is the most important. I want all the images of figures male or female in future pieces to have a ghost like appearance where the daytime or nightime background comes through the figure. In the nightime scenes I plan to use colors of dark blue, violet, and deep candy reds with a moon being represented as the white of the paper or in silver ink. The daytime scenes will all follow the similar color scheme of green, blue, yellow, orange, and warm reds.
