Study at biomedical engineering schools is highly specialized requiring rigorous training in the following core disciplines: biomechanics, bio-imaging, cell and tissue engineering. Qualifications for a biomedical engineering certificate or degree may vary depending on the institution. Prospective students should watch out for and enroll in the following core classes during their first two years ? math or applied math; life and physical sciences; statistics; organic chemistry; and, various engineering sciences. Criteria for undergraduate admission to this course may vary but a good high school GPA and high SAT or ACT scores in core subjects like math are important prerequisites for qualification.
