Fort Lauderdale Photography Schools

Fort Lauderdale is a city in southern Florida and has a population of about 185,000. The city is a very popular tourist destination and it is sometimes referred to as "The Venice of America" because of its canal system running through the city. This complex system exists because the city is a major yachting centre and the city is only 23 miles north of Miami. The fort was built during the Second Seminole War which was a conflict between the Native Americans and the United States, this took place between 1835 and 1842 and was the most expensive Indian War fought by the United States.

The city has a number of art based facilities including the Museum Of Art and The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. A number of professional photographers have come from the institute including Steven Nestler whose work can be found in collections of The Met and MOMA.

There are not many photography schools but The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale is a world renowned institute that provides photography courses to students and is the only major school in the area which does so. There are however many private classes organized by professional photographers such as Danny Steyn who can teach from the basics to advance photography.

Many photography students have come from a Fort Lauderdale photography school in the area and gone onto doing newspaper photography and some have even set up their own photography business which deals with wedding photography, events photography and even motor sports photography.

Tye Studios is also located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale and they offer an in-based learning centre which you can use to brush up on your photography skills as it offers a variety of classes and workshops each month and could be just what a photographer needs to get to the next step in their career. Tye Studios also provides environments in which to do your photo shoots and they will provide professional equipment to use both in and outside the studio. The workshops will allow you to brush up your skills from lighting tips to post-production or image editing.
