Traditional and electronic designs are utilized in exploration of graphic solutions. Graphic elements including typography, simplified imagery, and abstract shapes will be utilized to quickly visualize comparisons, convey instructions, or clarify data.
GR242 ADVANCED ILLUSTRATION
This course will enhance illustrative skill by combining traditional illustration concepts with computer technology. An exploration of various techniques will enable the generation and manipulation of illustrated images for commercial applications.
GR300 GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDIO
In order to be enrolled in this course, a student must submit three to five design pieces produced in previous courses, a letter of interest, and current grades/attendance records for review. A small group of students are chosen from the pool of candidates and work as a team of designers. The class projects are drawn from the community outreach program coordinated by the Director of Public Relations and Marketing. The projects vary from quarter to quarter and always include direct contact and collaboration with clients.
GR351 ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS
Graphic design principles will be applied to the development of three-dimensional and identity graphics. This course will explore materials, processes, and industry guidelines for a variety of directional design treatments.
ITT Technical Institute - School of Drafting and Design
The Graphic Design program in the School of Drafting and Design at ITT Technical Institute offers skills and knowledge to help graduates communicate ideas and concepts through print and electronic media. The program emphasizes creativity, visualization and critical thinking to help graduates generate technologically appropriate, functional and aesthetically pleasing graphic design. Instruction in design theory, graphic design tools and media production is included. The program also includes hands-on applications using equipment and software.
The goal of this program is to teach skills that can help graduates become members of teams that design and produce traditional or electronic media for communication.
GR110 Design Theory and Methods I
This course is a study of the principles, elements and theories of basic design, which leads to the successful execution of form. Students are required to demonstrate the uses of design as a creative and practical problem-solving and analytical tool.
GR220 Digital Type and Image Manipulation I
This course focuses on image manipulation and typography with a focus on utilizing existing images and type to create new and unique compositions in a digital framework.
GR210 Graphic Illustration
This course provides an introduction to visual and spatial form and typography within contexts relevant to design of communication medium.
GR230 Graphic Design Studio I
The principles and language of graphic design including the analysis, organization and invention of two- and three- dimensional form for the purpose of communicating information through the varied means of graphic representation are explored in this course.
